The 2015 Ford Mustang Customizer Platform

Thanks to WebGL, the 2015 Ford Mustang Customizer was the first ever tool that allowed car buffs to customize 3 Dimensional Ford Mustang car models in the browser, within a mobile app, and then race them too! I was the Technical Lead at GTB for this experience, overseeing Technical Architecture, Data Collection, Usability, Data Security Compliance and System Integrations. I primarily worked with our external development partner, Jam3, to complete the development which included AR (augmented reality) within a Google Streetview integration, an animated personalized Gif Maker and a custom merchandise e-commerce storefront powered by Zazzle.

This application let users create elaborate fantasy Mustangs featuring hundreds of aftermarket (or imagined) parts to make their dreams come to life. Then we let them drop these fantasy Mustangs into their own driveways through the magic of Google Street View. The app answered some important consumer demands: the general public's need to customize and share, and the Mustang enthusiast's desire to tweak out every last nut and bolt of their favorite vehicle.
